Query: How does one go
about living a meaningful life? |
||
"Living a meaningful life is living a life that makes
a difference. Maybe you only made a difference in one person's life or
maybe you made a difference in many people's lives. Your life has meaning
when you feel at peace with your self and with your acceptance of others.
Life takes on meaning when you reach out to others and take a small piece
of what you see as good in them and incorporate it into your life. In turn
your own goodness and peacefulness is contagious and will bring meaningful
life changes to others." Molly D.
"I think you have to be of use to others for your life to be meaningful. Otherwise you are pretty much alone. If you give to others, that beauty will be the foundation of all your relationships and that is a very strong, meaningful foundation indeed." Brandon S. "I agree with Brandon. It is important to be of service, but if you do not also serve yourself and have what you want in life, how much use can you really be to others?" K. J. "To live a life of meaning, something has to actually mean something to you. There must be something you care about that you can nurture. If you aren't nurturing to something, you're life is flat and you feel alone. I think people wait for excitement and love to come to them when in reality, if can only ever come from them. A life of meaning comes from within you and all you need to activate it is a willingness to give of yourself to something you feel good about." Diane F. "Life means everything. To me life is a precious gift in which we take way to much for granted. I think that life is a celebration a freedom in it's own way, because you always have a choice." BOB fitness "So many of us sit in loneliness and feel a part of nothing. It is very easy to let that lonliness engulf us--make us feel unimportant to anyone. All we really have to do is look outside ourselves and see how much there is to give our lives meaning. Simple things like kindness to coworkers, being of service to elderly neighbors, volunteering a few hours on a regular basis to feed the homeless or spend time with children who need attention...the list goes on and on--suddenly our lives take on meaning in a way we never anticipated. I agree that a meaningful life is a life of service--not sacrifice--but service to those around us. The fullness that enters our lives from these small acts makes our lives meaningful."-- Janet T. "Living a meaningful life means you are learning all of the lessons you came here to learn" --unknown |
